About BCARA

Aims & Objectives

Statement of Purpose

Bewdley Conservation Area Residents Association (BCARA) aims to be a voice for residents living within or adjacent to the Bewdley Conservation Area. It is an independent, not-for-profit group that aims to enhance the quality of life for the community living in this unique historical area: to create a community that residents are truly proud to call home.

Towards developing a vibrant and evolving community within our historical context, we take positive and constructive approaches to improving our area through, for example:

  • initiating and contributing to projects to enhance the conservation area
  • monitoring, reporting and making representations on local issues including licensing, highways, public realm, road traffic (speeding, weight restrictions, car-parking), public safety, crime and policing, planning applications, management of local park, noise nuisance and vandalism
  • helping to develop, and supporting appropriate elements within, the Town Council’s Neighbourhood Plan and the District Council’s Local Plan
  • developing volunteer forces where we believe they can complement the work of local authorities
  • taking action where we believe it will make a positive difference to the conservation area.

We liaise with other local organisations with shared or complementary objectives - such as the Civic Society - and local government authorities, to seek a balanced response to issues, and to work together towards common causes.
